Environment and Planning Law

Sub-Committee

What we do

The Environment and Planning Law Sub-Committee delves into all aspects of environment and planning law, raising awareness across the legal profession and the wider community about new and upcoming changes to NSW and national legislation, as well as developments in case law and policy. The Sub-Committee brings together a network of enthusiastic practitioners to discuss their shared interest in the environment, including the areas of planning, biodiversity, agriculture, climate change, mining, forestry and water.

Our initiatives

  •
  • The Environment and Planning Law Sub-Committee uses the collective legal skills and knowledge of its subscribers to raise the profile of environmental and planning law issues throughout the profession and the community.
  • The Sub-Committee’s work includes hands-on environmental activities, such as Clean-Up Australia Day, facilitating community forums on environmental law issues, arranging guest speakers at their monthly meetings.
  • The Sub-Committee drafts numerous law reform submissions and has also produced several publications including A Practitioner’s Guide to the Land and Environment Court (2019).
  • The Sub-Committee hosts a number of social events throughout the year, such as the Annual Trivia Night Extravaganza which raises money for charity.
